Shift scheduling
Scheduling that gets compared with what actually happened
Shift definitions, the monthly plan and a personal schedule for every employee. Attendance runs on the same record, so the plan and the day can be compared without a spreadsheet.
- One roster, published to every employee in the app.
- Compared with attendance,on the same day, for the same person.
- Cost visible, because coverage, overtime and failures sit together.
What changes when the roster and the attendance share a record
The day today
- The roster goes out as an image in a group chat and is never checked against reality
- Nobody can say whether the site was covered until the client complains
- A swap is agreed verbally and no one approved it
- Overtime is a payroll surprise weeks after the shift
The day with Emplitrack
- Head office, site teams and field crews each get the pattern they need on one roster
- The plan and the day sit side by side, so the gap is visible while it can be fixed
- Leave that empties a shift and the cover that fills it both leave a record
- Every scheduling decision becomes a cost decision you can actually see
Plan meets proof
A plan nobody checks is not a plan
Most shift planning happens in a spreadsheet and is never compared with reality. So the same questions come back every month: was the site covered, who swapped, why is overtime up.
- Define the shift master with the patterns you actually use
- Plan the month across employees and locations
- Every employee sees their own schedule, compared against attendance

Common questions
Can we run different shift patterns for different branches?
Location-specific and team-based schedules are in build. Today the monthly planner covers a consistent pattern per group.
Can an employee swap a shift with a colleague?
Shift change requests and swaps are in build as part of the request catalogue, carrying the same approval and audit record as a leave request.
Does the schedule handle overnight shifts?
Overnight shifts that cross midnight are in build, as part of enterprise scheduling.
How does this help with overtime?
Today you can see planned shifts and actual attendance side by side. Overtime and labour rules that calculate entitlement are in build.
